Step Into Yesterday | Tomorrow's Verse
So, last night, with their 16th and 26th picks, the Bulls selected forwards James Johnson, from Wake Forest, and Taj Gibson, from USC. To each of these picks, I had the same reaction: "Who????"
BUT. Something really, really good—and I can't emphasize that enough—happened last night, as well. With the 13th pick, the Indiana Pacers decided to take Tyler Hansbrough. Now you may ask yourself, "Dave, you don't like Tyler Hansbrough! In fact, you sort of hate him. So why should such news make you happy??" Well, let me tell you: if he'd been there at 16, the Bulls would have taken him. Without a second thought. As if we don't already have the same goddamned player in Joakim "Clown Shoes" Noah. Anyhow, thank you Indiana Pacers. He's your fucking problem, now.

See, I was shocked that Hansborough was even around for you to have to worry about. With the
Charlotte TarheelsBobcats having the 12th pick, I thought it was a lock that he'd join Sean May, Raymond Felton, Phil Ford, Brandan Wright, Larry Brown, Dave Hanners and Michael Jordan down in the Queen City. Instead they opted for Gerald Henderson, which confuses me, because he went to Duke. It seems some scout of another was asleep at the wheel. I assume he's going to be the butt of many, many incidents of "good-natured ribbing" and such... you know, shoved in a locker, left at the airport, never getting any playing time. I'd be upset, but that's what he gets for leaving early.I kind of adopted the Magic as my team this past post-season, but I see they traded two players I kind of liked for Vince Carter (one of the few acceptable Tarheels), thereby killing the team chemistry. Plus, in NBA years, he's kind of old now, and I am not sure what he can really bring to the team. Plus, Turkoglu's a free agent, and if he leaves the team, I'm through with them. This is why I don't get too attached to anything in the NBA, it's always changing. At least with college, you know the most you can hope for is four years with any lineup (and that's rare), so when people move on, it's expected. The constant switching in the NBA is the worst.
Speaking of which (this comment is probably approaching post length), I look forward to watching the insane struggle between Shaq and LeBron for control of the Cavs. So much ego on one team? Hmmm.... I wonder how that's gonna work out. (Hint: Probably not too well. I give it one season.)
